After the release of 'Kabir Singh', the Hindi remake of Sandeep Vanga’s 'Arjun Reddy', Shahid Kapoor gave his nod to another South remake, Gowtam Tinnanauri’s 'Jersey'. In the film, Shahid plays a cricketer who aspires to make it to Team India at an age when most players are contemplating retirement. While the 38-year-old actor shoots for the film, media has learnt that he has signed another project.
The yet-untitled film reunites Shahid with Karan Johar five years after 'Shaandaar', which had also featured Alia Bhatt.

According to a source close to the development, the film will be mounted on a big scale with high-octane stunt sequences. “It has patriotic undertones and will be directed by a debutant. Shahid is a fan of the action genre and is excited about being a part of this film. He needs to bulk up for the part, so the prep will begin a few months before he starts shooting for the film, which is expected to go on the floors in the second half of the year. It is currently in the pre-production stage,” the source informed. Shahid is returning to the genre seven years after the Prabhu deva directed 'R... Rajkumar'. There were reports that the avid biker could also be playing one in another actioner. However, while speaking to media earlier, the actor had said, “I haven’t confirmed anything officially… The biking film has been offered to me, and we are in talks. I’m not sure what I am doing next.”
